I missed my train and had to take the last train out of Boston. There were only a few people getting off at Cohasset, and I was the straggler, stopping to take this picture of the platform lights reflecting in the stream that runs along the cutting. I’m glad I didn’t rush away — standing with a suitcase all alone in the parking lot was a woman speaking frantically into her cell phone. “What do you mean there are no taxis?” Clearly, she was a stranger to these parts. I gave her a ride to her destination some miles away. Turns out she was a stranger — a nurse on private duty, on leave from her job in Ireland. What goes around, comes around.

Strange little row house by the T stop. I like the curly pig’s tail finial — can’t quite see it in this picture. But nice, still.

Passed this way many times at the close of day and noticed the yellow light and the way layers of long shadows stripe the stones. Finally got over there with the camera.

OK, this is from earlier this week. I meant to post it, in support of all the people who have suffered through much snow this year, but I got excited about some other photographs. Nothing to be excited about today. The snow was really pouring down, so dramatic that I just stood up in the middle of a meeting to take pictures. No joke.

Forgive my fascination with this corridor. I’ve walked through thousands of times and it still feels strange. If I see a rabbit hopping by, I won’t be at all surprised.
